Title: Forsythia Shafts?
Post by: Mark Anderson on July 21, 2009, 12:48:05 pm
Has anyone ever used forsythia (yellow bush as everyone calls it in MO) as arrow material? I have cut some shafts and they are drying now. seem to straighten real easy and are pretty light compared to their strength. Big pith but no bigger than wild rose would be. Super straight and easy to get long ones up to four feet in a big bush.
Just thought I'd ask to see if anyone has used it before.

I would be interested to see how it works. I have cut some forsythia and butterfly bush shoots from my front yard for shafts, but have never used either of them.  Justin
