Title: hickory self bow
Post by: aruge on June 17, 2009, 05:46:05 pm
I haven't posted anything in quite a while, but I've been lurking . I did this bow this winter and early spring for the land owner where I do most of my hunting. He also let's me cut wood for bows. I got this hickory from his woods.
I started on this bow after reading Pappy's article in PA. Learned a lot from the article and thank you Pappy for answering my e-mail. You ate a real gentleman.
The bow is about66" ntn pulls 50# at 28", which is my friends draw length. There are no overlays. The grip is from an old leather couch.
There is no string follow and has about 3/4" of reflex.
Thanks for looking and any hints would be appreciated.

I figured it would,Hickory ,I think gets a bad rap on the fretting,I have never really had that
problem,a few but not many, the main thing I have found is keeping it dry.Well done. :)

Great looking tiller, love the turkey feather. Matter of fact that would make the perfect turkey getter.
