Title: self bow setup for bowfishing
Post by: Granite Mtn on June 17, 2009, 04:49:52 am
I was just home in Ohio and the buffalo carp are feeding along the break wall. Does anyone have advice on setting up self bow with reel for carp.  I could just glue up a heavy riser d/r bbo but I do not have the time right now.  Does anyone make an attachment point that straps or Velcros on?

You can get several different types of reels/bases that will strap on a selfbow. I got this one from Mechslasher, don't remember what the brand is, but it is simple and works great. It straps on with bungees. I just put it on the bottom limb just past the fade.

Chris, my brother has used his retriever reel on one of his bbo's strapped on with sections of old bicycle innertube.

There have been a few good articles in the past in PA Magazine about bow fishing. I believe they were a few years back. Do a search and see what you come up with.
