Title: Salvaged osage (bow)
Post by: PeteC on May 29, 2009, 10:36:28 pm
While working this stave ,I ran into borer damage, and had to remove more wood than I wanted to.It came in at 42# @28 ".It's 1 1/4" at the fades, tapering evenly to 3/8" tips.It shoots a 540 grain arrow very good, and is smooth and quiet. It holds 2 " of reflex. It ought to make a good bow for a lady or kid. God Bless

Nice save on a damaged piece of wood.  The bow looks great.  I think it would be a great bow for a lady, kid or anyone who wants to shoot a deer. ;D.  Nice Job

That bow looks great. Nothing wrong with a 42 pounder, if you put a sharp arrow in the right spot that is plenty.

Nice bow....tiller looks good and unstrung profile is real nice.  I've also found recently that it can be a lot of fun shooting a lighter poundage bow, so why not shoot it yourself?

Hard tro learn snap shooting on a 75 pounder!   Nothing wrong with a 4X stick at all!  That is about perfect for a fishing bow.

Very nice bow and not every piece of wood wants to be a heavy weight, sometimes the wood calls the shots. Good job and good save. I just finished a light weight bow and enjoy shooting it.     Kenneth

That is a very nice bow. I really like the way you have it tillered. That is plenty of draw weight to kill a deer. Nice work.

That's a great looking bow.  Trust me, those 40-something pound bows are nothing to laugh at.  I love them...they're easy and fun to shoot, and they'll kill the hell outta deer.
