Patty's Camp-O-Rama is scheduled for July 24, 25, 26.
Contact me at 828-884-6205 or marciaandpat@citcom.net
I have a limited space for this event and especially for cars so car pooling is encouraged. ;)
-
Wish I could go Pat! Man, knapping, primitive skills and great company! (Sigh!!!) ;)
-
We'll make room for you, David. Come on down! ;)
-
Save a spot for my crew if you dont mind.. I aint going to miss it this year..
-
Hey Pat ill get with TJ om this, me may just get to make it this year.
-
You know I'll be there.
-
Wish I could Pat! But, ya know a couple thousand miles of travel and all the other stuff! But I will be there in spirit! ;)
-
Pat....you got me over the proverbial Barrel....what is it all about?? ABout the same a Twin Oaks??

wade
-
hmmm gonna see what the calendar says.
-
Mike, not even close to the Classic! ::) Like Wade said, only about 20 or so folks the last 2 years. Can't really handle too many more than that. You are welcome to come.
Jamie, it would be great if you came. Cousin Fred can come too.
I'll have the pit ready for heat treating rock again. One thing similar to the Classic is the ticks. We have a bumper crop this year. ;D
-
You guys have got to start using my soap! Man, out turkey hunting and not one on me!!! For Two years running at the classic!!!! ;D
-
sounds like some good doins, wish i could be there.. sling some arrows and bust some rock for me brothers.. Hawk
-
OK Wade I'll pick you up. I'll camp in a tent this year rather than the camper.
Dick
-
Dang!....wish I could be there. :-\ I'm booked solid for the next 6 months. Family stuff. (translation: wife needs driver/disciplinarian for family outings)
-
Poor guy. :( Almost feel sorry for him! ;D
-
Tiller, no ticks? No turkeys. I amused myself while calling birds by watching how long it took for ticks to die crawling on my pants. You have to sit still to kil a bird. 8)
-
Eddie, you just need to teach me how its done! (This is a challenge!!!! ;D)
-
Hey Pat, save a spot for me!! :)
Alan
-
You got it Alan. Any particular area? ;D
-
Just somewhere within a few miles will do. :D
Alan
-
Down there in the corner where all the yallerjacket nests and copperheads are. ;D ;D
-
I'll take the copperheads but you can have the yallerjackets. :)
Alan
-
I'll see if I can make it. I'm getting married on the 11th a few days before then, so I might have other things on my mind.... You want me to tell Bruce and Harley (the native bowyer) about the gathering? They live just a few minutes apart so they can car pool.
John
-
John, congratulations on the gettin' married. You might as well go, it doesn't take long to wear the newness off. :D
-
John, I hope you can come but I understand why you might not! ;D Sure, tell Bruce and Harley. They are welcome and good if they can ride together.
I killed a 2' copperhead down there a few days ago. Nice dark skin too...now drying in the basement! ;D
-
Thanks Eddie. Its not a concern about the "newness" wearing off, but which would you rather be the one of the last things to see before going to sleep and first things after waking up?
This?

...and what's so funny. I think she's a cute girl!!! ;)
-
I contacted Bruce and Harley and they both said that they intend to make it.
John
-
I have to agree with Pat, She's more than cute.
-
John, sure, the other guy you PMed me about is welcome to come.
-
Pat, sounds really interesting, what's the nearest decent hotel in the area?
Steve
-
Steve, the closest motel is atleast 10 miles away. Camping is free if you want to camp.
-
Just over a month away. July 24, 25, 26. Lets start a list of who is coming.
FYI...So far this season it has been rainy!!! We had 9 1/2" of rain in May and June won't be too far behind so that is a consideration while planning. It has just started getting hot during the day(85+) but nights are still in the 60s. Ticks have been a problem with our dogs and skeeters will probably be around if the rain continues. I killed 2 copperheads near the activity area but there is also a big(7'+) black snake that is trying to keep them in check. I haven't found any yellow jacket nests yet but don't count them(and hornets) out.
The good news is I have added a bale of cedar chips and a bag of lime for use in the outhouse! ;D
-
Pat, you can count me in at the moment. The only thing that could stand in my way is school (depends on how many essays i have to write) but i think i could manage one or two days either way. looking forward to it.
-
Dang Pat,you really know how to talk the place up.You must be in the realestate business. :) :)
I know it will be a blast with this bunch.I got 12 Boy scouts that weekend. :(
Pappy
-
Pat I'm count me and my crew in.. ;D
-
I do hope y'all will post pictures! ;D
-
Update...Sister found a yellow jacket nest yesterday morning( :o ) and yesterday afternoon Lucy verified it! ( :o ). I'll deal with that this weekend and begin in earnest looking for more. Also Lucy found another copperhead yesterday so I have another skin for my collection.
I'll start making a list of folks that are coming.
David, We will take pics so you can be here vicariously! ;)
Pappy, as you know, if you build it, they will come!
-
Dang Pat.. I'm going to have to find somthing to try and trade you out of a couple of those skins.. ;).. Or go on a copper head hunt while Im there.. ;D
-
David, just wade through the weeds with fuzzy sox on and pick them off when you get several attached. ;D
-
Sweet Idea!! I will see if my boy will pack his spongebob sock's.. ;D >:D
-
Well, I gave the yellow jackets a good shot of wasp and hornet spray. I will check back later to see the results. After mowing the area, I did not find anymore yellow jackets. I'm sure we will find some when everyone gets here. ;D
-
Can't wait. The dingleberry clan will be attending. I'll make sure we wash up before presentin ourselves.
Don't forget everybody that Pat's bday is that weekend >:D and mines on the 26th..........Double Trouble.
-
I am like boo. I am going to see what is happening with school before I can come up and visit. I definitely want to be there.
-
Jonathan, I will put you and the family on the list in ink and TJ and Bobby in pencil! ;) For now, that's good enough. ;D
-
I'm still planning on being there Pat.
Alan
-
Cool Alan. Looking forward to seeing you, and everyone else, again.
-
Bruce's mother just passed and he had to run up north to take care of things. This might have taken up all this vacation time. Our little Liberty group will meet in the beginning of July, so I should be able to tell you who all is coming. I'm planning on trying to make it.
John
-
Hi Pat,
Sure wish I could be there...my daughter & fiance is coming down from DC that weekend or I would be! After blowing up two backed bows I need to regroup and maybe try another self bow. Recently met a fellow here who will swap bow advice for flute building advice so looks like things might work out! Hope you guys have a great time!
Rand
Catahoula
-
sure wish i could make it pat, but mojam is the weekend before and i will still be recovering. Lol
-
I still owe you a bow string Brian! Red and black wasn't it. ::)
Say hey to everyone at Mojam for me.
-
Been stocking plenty of yallerjackets, skeeters, deerflies and copperheads? Better get 'em ready, it's almost here. Hope you got the order for the torrential rain and violent lightning in in time, too-it wouldn't be the same without it. ;D
-
Steve, I think I have all the bases covered! ;)
-
Ohya, done forgot Pat...seems like I get real busy after the Classic for awhile but im getting leveled out now, lol
-
Yall forgot the whining 1.5 year old. I got that covered. Anybody interested in a bowdrill challenge? We could find spindle and drill materials in the woods. I figured on bringing my own strang (nettle) and bow and handhold (rock), but lookin for the rest.
-
Plenty of woods to find supplies Jonathan. Looking forward to seeing you again and meeting your wife and youngun! ;) 8)
-
A bow drill challenge sounds fun! Pat, are we cooking any flint this year? I have some stuff I just found in Wyoming that I might try heating a few spalls of if we do.
Alan
-
Alan, the pit is still there and the sand. We haven't discussed it but it is OK with me. ;)
