Title: Hickory backed walnut ?
Post by: MAK on May 05, 2009, 07:41:58 pm
Any suggestions? I have a 26" draw, looking for something around 45 LBS. 66 " NTN. Is this possible with walnut?

Thanks

Yes, and usually the heartwood is stronger in compression. 1 1/8" outside the fades, or ELB style, and you should be fine.

Yes, I have a Hickory backed Black Walnut 66"NtN 45# 28" draw.  I purchased this one though.  It has quite a bit of set 4.5" on the upper limb, and 4" on the bottom limb.  8" riser, 4" handle area(1" faded out to 1 3/8" at the fade)  1 3/8" for about 2/3 of the limb tapered to 5/8" at the tip.  Hope this helps .  If you want I can take some pictures.
