This deflexed, propeller twisted stave gave me a real good bow, at 58" with good weigth, ........grip is hemp, overlays Guava, cotton backing to get rid of the lite colored sapwood, the handle is build up first with sawdust and superglue, than leather, the tips are flipped with dry heat,...the bow I don't think took any set

You turn into some bow-making machine latly: really nice bow!
These bows coming from you are an inspiration for a lot of bowyers, I'm sure!
You turned into some bow-making machine lately...!?
-
NICE .... :o
I see your bow is marked 0041 , is that 41 bows this year or 41 bows this month ... ::)
Chris ... ;)
-
Sweet! Awesome bow, great finish job on it! :)
-
Another great lookin bow Manny. I see some lil hands and toes in that one pic? And also,,what is one that trailor?Surely not a load of Guava?
-
She's a stunner, Manny! Well done. Jawge
-
You gave that stave a nice bow brah, not the other way 'round.
Real fine.
I'm of the opinion a twisted bow can store more energy than straight. A real advantage, as long as it can be crafted to not rotate on the loose.
Thanks for posting another fine bow Manny.
-
whoa! gotta love that yew man! great job on that, and that backing is gonna look pretty slick when the heartwood darkens.
Phil
-
WOW, that is a really nice bow!! I would LOVE to make one that is that high of a draw weight and to have the curves like you do them, just amazing bow all around!
-
That's a beautiful ugly bow! I think you should send it to me immediately, because I'm the only person who can put up with the ridicule of everyone laughing at me for shooting such an ugly horse of a bow! I'll give you my address. Be sure to send it express mail so it will arrive as fast as possible. The sooner it's out of your hands, the better!
-
Love it.
-
Don't do it Manny. Billy is much to tall for such a short bow. Send it to me so I can save him the embarrassment of looking like a gorilla with a shorty like that! ;D >:D
Great looking bow. About the same profile and exact length of my favorite shooter. Congratulations.
-
Hey everybody - take a lesson from Manny on how to take great pictures.
-
Beautiful, as always. I see we know a little about photo composition, too. ;)
-
Thanks fellas,
Yes Timo I had my daughter yesterday ;) that's why those where the only pictures I could take ;D
Keenan, I remember that Yew bow of yours, for the 1st ABC ..I was hoping to make one 1/2 as good ever since you posted it years back :)
LOL african, ....41 is all I got ;D
Frank, it's just that I work on several bows at the same time,..in reality I'm quite slow ;)

Excellent bow Manny. Makes me ashamed for pushing crooked pieces aside for clean ones :-[ ;D.
-
Manny thats a beauty, one to be proud of, I hope after 41 I can turn them out as nice as that.
Robb
-
Thanks guys, ....you wil Robb, you will ;)
-
Manny, you never did tell me what was on that trailor in the background of the one pic? Looks like poles of some kind?(forgive my inquireing mind) ;)
-
Hey everybody - take a lesson from Manny on how to take great pictures.
Move to Hawaii ??? :D
-
Timo, those are the neightborougth trailers, ,...full of PVC pipeings :)
-
Manny, I can't believe you got a 58 inch piece of yew to bend that far. Looks like the entire length is working in the full draw pics. Your recent bow posts have me fired up for May 1-3 weekend at Brad's - Bradjam bow making weekend. I have 10 staves/bow blanks roughed out and am ready to bend some wood.
-
Dang Manny, you're just kicking our butts here on the mainland. I love that tiller - the limbs almost look like they made of liquid. BTW, please, please don't send that bow to Keenan until after our gathering - I wouldn't have a chance at the flight-bow competition if he showed up with that beauty! :o
-
Wow that is nice! Got me looking at my ELB and thinking about making a shorty out of it ;D
-
thanks guys :)
Shaun, you wright, if you compare the unbraced pictures and full draw you can see how just about the all limb apart from the last couple of inches, is moving.
Gordon, when I see the bows that you guys make, I have to step back and just try harder ;) ...and I'm learning so much with every new one I finish,.....yep YEW is sooo smooth, definatly # 1 wood in my book, ..can't even immagine how good of a bow could be made with top quality YEW, just an amazing wood !!!!
Yeah Olschool, YEW is allways linked to longbows, but the excepional tension/compression qualitys coupled with the phisical lightess of the wood make it a great selection for shorter bows ;D
-
That tiller looks sweet Manny. I bet that thing smokes an arrow.
Don't worry Gordon, I'd have to use my feet to shoot that heavy of bow right now ::) ::) Maybe Manny will just show up and be on our side to give you Valley boys a good run. ;D
-
How wide is that bow, I am just starting a yew bow and hope to make a short yew bow. Greg
-
Keenan, if Manny showed up he would obviously be a Westsider. Way out west, but west never-the-less. :D
-
I thought you'd probably think that way Gordon, thats why I laid claim first. ;D ;D >:D
-
How wide is that bow, I am just starting a yew bow and hope to make a short yew bow. Greg
Let me do some mesuring Greg, and I'll let you know.
When is your meeting guys ?? ....you better take lots of pictures ;)
-
1 5/8" ;D
-
Thanks!
-
Greg, if you make the bow bend through the handle slightly I think you could get away with a width of 1 1/4" with yew.
-
Yeah, definatly what Gordon says, ......I just kept it real wide because of the extreme weight I was hoping to get out of it.
-
Good point Manny. I'm fairly certain that Greg will be targeting a lower draw weight.
-
Thanks Gordon and Manny, I pull more like 60# at 27'', It seems to be more that enough to bring down an elk.
