Post by: Ian. on April 22, 2009, 02:19:22 pm
 Hi

Before I go using some really good hickory Ive got I just wanted to ask, is Iroko a good belly wood
 the bow would be Hickory/Purpleheart/Iroko
  I want 130lb - 140lb mark

Do you think it will do it?

Thanks

In one word .... NO .....  :(
soft spongy wood belly would collapse at those weights , might be good for a center lamb

The same as Africa Man says.  I've seen it fret like mad as a belly (on a light bow too) and work well as a lam.

You could try the P.Hart as the belly , make the bow nice and long and don't over stress the belly , have had P.H crysal on me if the tillering is not up to par , just take it nice and slow with no hinges , and maybe drop the weight a bit.
good luck and let us know how it goes
