-
Ok i tried to post blacktails blade he sent me by scanning it but it didnt work , do i need to resize or what , it wont let me click and drag when i do drop it on the post it just shows the scan no room for input ..........please help the computer challenged ???
-
jreb, you need to post it as an attachment instead of clicking and dragging it. If you look at the lower left of the reply window, outside the lower left corner of the box you type the text in, there is a link that says "Additional Options." Click on that and it will open a box that lets you browse to the pic on your computer and attach it to the post. Also, the image needs to be less than 200 kb file size and no more than 640x480 in actual size.
-
Thanks Wade! Yep, Eddie's right - that's a dalton I posted awhile back :).
-
Wow John I just saw this and just getting caught up on the posting . Those points look awesome. ;D Sent you a PM. Awesome looking points guys.
-
This was more of a personal gift from Blacktail to Dave and I at the rondevzouse. John walked up and gave these two blades to us to fight over. >:D His talent on them big blades is very impressive. I'll post some close ups and details later. ;)

Will keep my eyes out for the next trade. I hate I missed this one.
-
Steve (Hillbilly?) I got yours done and will get it in the mail on Monday. Been busy but I think you will like it. Was making a mammoth butcher blade but ran into a flaw in the rock (ie: fold in the obsidian layers) Broke into three large peices and was able to get a mini-mammoth blade out of it. Think your going to get a kick out of it! Be careful with the edges. I used Billy's sharpening technique :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1PDEgJEIY8
Steve Allelley taught both of us at the same time how to do this a number of years ago at Glass Buttes, OR. Man it get them SHARP!!!
Tiller
-
That is good info. Billy was showing me this last weekend. It definetly get an edge razor sharp.
-
Nice point N2! those blades aughta make some awesome clovis point's Keenan, go ahead and finish em up for this months challenge ;D.
-
Ok D. tiller i sent you somthing today to help you get rid of those pesky mammoths ;D
-
Yep! They are just all over the place around here. ;D
Nugget, how did ya meet Billy? Man, hes just a ball of energy! Wonder where he gets it?
-
I met Billy at the NC Traditional Archers State shoot over Memorial Dat weekend. Yes he is wide open all the time.
-
Got my gift package from Hillbilly yesterday....and like Golmer Pile said, " surprise, surprise, surprise"! :o Got some spalls of obsidian, rhyolite, flint ridge, buffalo river?, etc.. Also, got a little container made from ???? bark. I've made poplar containers but I think this is different. Also, had two sweet points inside the container: one of cryolite, and one from ????. Very nice points both of em. Thanks a bunch Steve! I'll return the favor one day.
-
Well gwaaaalleee - you made out like a bandito Jonathan ;D. That bigger one looks like Horsecreek stuff - nice haul..
-
Holy hogwash Batman! Dems nice!!! ;D
-
Sweet! Nice haul, Jonathan. Steve, did you right. I see some Coastal Plains in those spalls.
-
Got my point from Mullet a few weeks ago, and it was a sweet one. Thanks again! I didn't get my point from my other guy though. Maybe one day.
-
Jonathan, the bigger point is some kind of Texas flint. The white spalls are Keokuk, the butterscotch colored one is Flint River/Coastal Plains, green is rhyolite, and the gray is hornstone I think. Container is just thin poplar bark from a small limb. Oh, and the writn's always on the ugly side...;D
-
Wildcat I getting my points sent out today, sorry for delays. I didn't get the chance to work on any points at our rendezvous., just to busy and since getting back I've been working on reducing some rock that Blacktail gave me. He gave me some nice big spalls and I've just about got them all reduced ::) :'( It's amazing have many small pieces you can get from those big ones ::)
-
I just love gettin' boxes in the mail, especially when they contain little gems like these
(http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/kk33/Bonepile/trade09.jpg)
Thanks goes out to dingleberry
Bone pile
-
Reb, that is a cool point ya sent me. Thanks! I will post a pick in the future.
-
I hope you like it that is a official jreb 1st atempt at a clovis....... yeah lucky you ;D the 1st wanna-flute only went very little and the 2nd if you can even tell went shallow but farther than the 1st - look hard its there , I got scared and didnt hit hard enough on the 1st and poor nipple prep on the 2nd , i think goose said something about nipple prep in another post maybe he'll chime in ::)
-
And thanks again to Blacktail who sent me a killer 5" blade thats super nice , I'm still working on sending you a gift your way ;D
-
Reb, I like it! Don't be hard on yourself. You will want to keep ahold of some of these points for the future. You will really see the differences in the future!

-
Glad you like them Eddie, After looking at some of the stuff everyone els is doing I feel like such a rooky ::).. However My reducing is getting much better. I'm now convinced that I can reduce any nice size rock into a pile of tiny tiny points ::) :'( ::)
Also have got some incredible points in the mail lately and will get pics up soon. Been fairly busy lately and have'nt spent much time on the home front.
-
Keenan, what kind of rock is that black slab with the cream colored swirls running through it?
-
I think you are refering to the gold sheen Eddie. I sent out a little bit of everything so not sure what piece you have ::) I know there was some midnight lace, gold sheen, silver sheen and some mahogany mixed with midnight lace.
-
so,has every one gotten there points...my guy must be still working hard at it...john
-
No Hillbilly is still waiting on mine. I know I know! I am the last one to get things off in the mail. I will try to get it to him soon...Maybe?
