i am making a yew bow and i got a live branch and i made the nothes and everything and i put a thin nylon rope for the string. i tried shooting it and it went 10 ft i can't get it too go far!. and should the string be loose or tight?

If its fresh cut it needs to be dried, than properly shaped(tillered) and a nylon string is going to stretch
like a rubber band and yes the string needs to be tight.
-
what kind of string? and how do you shape? this is my first time.

Read through the threads on this sight but specifically go to the Build Along section and look at some of the threads there.
You need to do some research no one on here can just tell ya how to make a bow. There is no shortcuts if ya want to learn
than you need to do some research on your own.
Good Luck
