Title: Sinew and reflex question
Post by: ricktrojanowski on February 18, 2009, 09:26:29 pm
I'm in the process of making a sinew backed ERC bow.  The stave has a little bit of deflex (follow).  Should I heat bend some reflex into the stave before sinewing.  Or just prop up the tips, sinew it and the sinew will dry it into reflex?  I am planning on using hide glue.

Rick, I think you would get better performance by just lifting the tips and adding the sinew. You will be surprised how well sinew draws the stave into reflex as it cures.
Sinew backed ERC should be a quick bow. I have a 49" ERC that I was thinking about doing the same.
