Hey all,
Thought you knappers would appreciate this. My parents just got back from visiting Israel on a holy tour (they saved for a long time :) ). My mom was nice enough to grab some rock for me. The large ones on the left are from Kursi (eastern shore of the Sea of Galillee) and the smaller ones on the right are from Herodion (Herod's palace). The tour guide told them to take some rocks if they wanted; I was suprised they let them. I doubt I will attempt to make a point with em; just neat to have rock from different places. :)

Is that considered HOLY FLINT? ;D Seriously, it looks similar to the chert I find in the fields here in IN
Thanks for the pics!

Holy cryptocrystalline silicates, Batman.....looks like they're ate up with good flint over there, it's amazing that they can always stay in a bad mood there with all that sweet rock laying around everywhere. Let's see a Divinely Inspired Clovis now. :)

Blacktail, I don't know any one who is selling it, but that would be cool to get some more.

Pretty rock.
You know it will still be rock from the Holy Land if it is the form of points & flakes...
Not like it is sacred or anything. I say chip away (keep a small one whole if you feel the need).

True, I wouldn't dare try myself; at least now, maybe in five years when I have move up the skill ladder from "rubble maker" to "better than rubble maker". ;D

Hillbilly might be on to something?, Peace in the middle East. If they started knapping that rock and quit throwing it at each other it would be a whole lot nicer. Then again, if they gave it all to tourist, that might work, too.
