I apologize for the pics, having trouble with a digital camera- this bows name is xilo, a greek word meaning stick-shes 67inch n2n, thick tips, lotta bend midlimb- I took about a week tillering this bow.stacks a bit, but a real nice shooter. the brace is a little low, the bows shorter than most of the bows i make, but its come out to a whopping 58 pounds at 28 inches, perfect for me. (the highest weight I've ever achieved so far)
its nothing special, tough as nails, finishd with 3 coats of truol in the pics, its got 8 now. hope you guy like it, next time the pics will be better. <a href="http://s286.photobucket.com/albums/ll112/jimboadio/?action=view¤t=heartwoodhickorybow018.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll112/jimboadio/heartwoodhickorybow018.jpg" border="0" alt="58 @ 28"></a><a href="http://s286.photobucket.com/albums/ll112/jimboadio/?action=view¤t=heartwoodhickorybow004.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll112/jimboadio/heartwoodhickorybow004.jpg" border="0" alt="braced"></a><a href="http://s286.photobucket.com/albums/ll112/jimboadio/?action=view¤t=heartwoodhickorybow006.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll112/jimboadio/heartwoodhickorybow006.jpg" border="0<a <a href="http://s286.photobucket.com/albums/ll112/jimboadio/?action=view¤t=heartwoodhickorybow005.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/ll112/jimboadio/heartwoodhickorybow005.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>href="http://s286.photobucket.com/albums/ll112/jimboadio/?

ballista, you are bringing back memories. I don't know how many times I heard this, "The fas xylo!" Go to photobucket.com and get an account. Send the pics to them and we'll show you how to post them here. Jawge

Your bow looks very nice. The tiller is good. One concern I have is you cut into the back of the bow with your string grooves. That is asking for the wood to split right at the string groove. If you want a groove on the back, add an overla first then you can safely cut across the back. Pat

It looks great. Try the bottom picture link. You are using the direct link not the IMG code.
-
You don't need Photobucket. This site is perfect for posting bows.
-
The bow looks great, I don't think the bow is stacking at all, your string angles look good. I think it just feels a tad heavy to you. After a few weeks shooting it I bet the stacking sensation goes away. Steve

Old Crow, you don't need phobucket to post here but there was a blur from a mod a while back asking us to not over stress the server and to use a hosting service. Are you saying we don't to have anymore? Jawge
-
Outstanding bow! balista, you did well. Jawge

George, we can post pictures here, it isn't an issue. We filled our storage capacity but we have since addressed that issue a little. It will happen again I'm sure. What I was asking was that people use photobucket for all of their non-archery related pictures. All those anything else photos use as much space as archery photos do. ;) Justin

Pretty nice looking tiller to me.

Oikay, Justin. Thanks. :) Jawge
-
Looks very good! Great job
-
thank you everyone for the compliments- oh jawge- thats great ;D thought xylo might be a good name for her, i'm actually shooting better groups with this than one of my bows with a rest, I think I might take it out for turkey this spring- oh eric, thank you for posting the tiller on here- oh justin, thanks for the IMG tip, that bow you posted was actually my first bow, 2 yrs ago ;D 14 lbs hehe.
if i didnt add,I hacked this bow from a 26 year old board of hickory my grampa used for his barn, I think it turned out decent, and tru oil is a great, great scealent- alot better than deft in my opinion.again, thanks for looking -jimmy
-
forgot this too- bow number 17, it took 17 bows to get one over 42 lbs... haha
-
ballista, xylo is an awesome name for that bow. :) Jawge
-
Looks great! Me and Auggie got a bunch of hickory heartwood boards on accident and been nervous bout using them cuz everyone says its too brittle....another misconception shot down I would say ;)....Brian

hey koan, yeah the heartwood works great, its a real nice honey-reddish color too- to be honest i could have been fine not staining her, but I wanted to try that new miniwax-everyone told me that it was brittle too, but so far its the best stuff ive worked with. thanks for all the complments all-jimmy
