Your bending way to much in the handle area and not at all in the mid limbs.  Stay away from the handle area and carefuly scrape the mid limbs.

I think to save this bow you will have to drop the weight considerably from what you planned. The handle is bending far too much. Steve

:-\ :-\ that's looking a bit rough, i cant say much that will sound anything different than what badger said though- its not primitive, but you might want to glue a riser, you'd have to get the handle jointed flush though- its not as hard as it sounds, you might be able t odo it via sander. -jimmy

thanks thats what i was going to do. thats what i thought at first but i tillered it to like 15 without the rflex or deflex and it looked fine. i think that by heating it twicce i might have wekened it so im gluing a riser on.

Mitch, how many straight bows have you got under your belt so far? Not trying to discourage you but your bends mid limb are much too abrubt. You need a gentle curve. I would go ahead and toiller that one out for fun and just start a new one. Fixing mistakes is often harder than just starting over. Good luck, Steve

Disadvantages? Getting it to bend evenly, in a nice arc. That sharp of an angle is a hinge before you start!

The long string technique tends to amplify the bending in the center.  If you still want to keep it, I would recommend floor tillering this bow and then using a low brace when checking tiller.  As already mentioned, you will have to remove a lot of wood to get this bow working properly.  You can also un-steam some of the reflex so that it is not so abrupt.  My 2 cents. ;D

you could also glue a riser handle to the handle part, so it would make the handle stiff, and the outer limbs bending more.
