Fenton slag glass blades.
« on: November 06, 2008, 02:11:10 pm »
Been out tinkering with some slag glass last few days due to not having any heat treated rock - have accomplished that in last couple of days also. So now I can work on some authentic blades for trade, barter and other thangs :). Got this glass at a souviner shop in Branson - it's slag from the Fenton glass company.

Thanks Marc! Have you had any success with your knapping?
Hey bonepile, I appreciate it. I don't own a rock saw, just grab a chunk and go to work on it :).

Dang...those look great!  And probably not easy due to the bubbles in the glass.  Are those bubbles or air pockets I see?

Great job, Paul. That red stuff was some of the first stuff I tried to knap. Bonepile, I was at Claude's this morning and he was wondering if you were Roger?

Paul, nice looking blades. I like working that Fenton glass, but i think they've went out of business and it's getting scarce. That yellow/pink piece in the upper left boz corner looks almost exactly like the one I made Madcrow's knife from:

Thanks fellers :). I've had nothing but time here lately (well the last few days anyway), have been trying to conquer the world otherwise - long story :-X. Those are gas pockets in the glass Pat, thier small so easy to work around - nothing like what Hillbilly has in his blade. I may try to work around one of those next, hmm.. ::)..
