this is an elm bow i started out to be just worked with my hatchet..it progressed so well that i decided to go at it with a drawknife...THEN, it REALY started to shape up and i finished scraped with my knife and cut in nocks and was going to use it for hunting this week!
but i put on a leather arrowpass and a jute handle and gifted the primitive bow to my friend phil, who is a master craftsman.
within three shots he was hitting a leaf at the bale at 15 steps...fast and quiet!
it turned out 57# @ 27"
in the pics you will notice a broken back ring with a wormhole in it...it split at the wormhole and i cut off the rest of the outer ring on the back and she was pulling to full draw with ease!
then i put the fire-scorch job to it.
enjoy phil...
