Hey Everyone! Well, I saw everyone posting pictures of the deer they've gotten (seems to be the year for successful primitive hunters), so I had to post one of the doe I got on Halloween night. What makes this deer special is that this is the very first deer I've ever killed in my entire life!!! I wanted my first deer to be taken with my own primitive bow and stone tipped cane arrows. After 7 years of trying, after hunting from Oregon to Virginia, from New Mexico to Georgia, I finally...FINALLY, achieved my goal. Shot the doe from the ground at about 14 yards and she only ran about 50 yards before crashing. The stone point hit the rear lobe of the right lung, then cut the major arteries along the spine and missed the left lung, then punched a hole in the other side.
Equipment : 52# osage self bow, rivercane arrow with dogwood foreshaft, stone point made of north GA flint.
