Gordon, Thats a great looking bow. I have some yew drying and would like to try one of those come spring. Any suggestions I have never worked with yew. By the way it seems selfbow  killed elk taste better than what I remember my dads rife killed elk. Greg

Oh yea Greg, I can believe that. I hope you plan on saving a little piece for me - I'd sure like to celebrate that elk with you...

Oh man Gordon, that is so nice! Well done.
With a fine osage selfbow, my elkhide quiver filled with cedar arrows fletched with turkey, and with the invitation of the forest, I am about as happy as a man can be.

Now Gordon, you know if you are to win with them fire killed yew billets, that it would be an eastside victory. Eastern grown equals eastern bow ;D  :o  Of-coarse it's not all about winning it's how you play,  Right?

PS. All is fair in War :o

Sweet bow Gordon. I see a heavy Strunk influence there  ;D
Fit and finish are as good as I've seen...

John,

On the last day of the east-side Rendevouz a flight shoot is held. Bryan Bryand (a west-sider) won this spring's shoot with an excellent selfbow that he had crafted from hazelnut (with a little guidance from yours truly  ;D). Since then a friendly competition has developed between the west and east and I fully expect that the east-siders will be lying in wait at the next get-together.

Fair enough Keenan, we'll limit our competition bows to those that were fashioned from west-side wood  8) - though that fire killed yew is going to make a bitchin' bow.

Just kidding Gordon, It's the skills of the bowyer that bring out the speed and performance of the bow. ;) Just looking for any angle to hedge the stack the odds >:D
