Hickory shortbow

This is my Hickory shortbow. 60 NTN, 60 # @ 26. One layer of sinew. Shoots hard and real fast. Nothing special. The tiller looks off at brace but is ok at full draw and thats what counts.

60', non working handle... nice- probibly great for brush or a stand... thats a real ice bow, too. Is that self cut? the tiller is near perfect though. ive been making my hickory bows pretty nrrow, with working handles, usually somewhere around 68" long. you think going wider at the fades is the better way to go? I wanted to make a shorter bow for deer season this year, im not too late yet either ;D so, my real question, how wide are the fades, to the nocks? nice bow, hope you can make some meat -jimmy

You know - I would recommend that some of that handle length go into the working limbs. Otherwise, nicely tillered. And bookmarked, too, for Oct Self Bow of the Month.

I'm amazed that you got so little set with such a design. It could be the camera angle, but the upper limb looks a little stiff from mid-limb out. The lower limb looks perfect though.

WOW!!!

thats just my size!!! man...  that's exactly what i would like to turn out short stiff bow with lots of punch!!!    good job!!!   gives me lots of motovation...  i really want to be able to turn em out like that if i can get a few like that i would be happy... and i then id try and go a little shorter like 58"  but that right there is perfect in my eyes...   really nice job brother..

Believe it or not the handle does flex some. It is 1 3/4 at the fades to 1/2 inch tips.
