The main reason for this post, is to let anyone out there that has a Guava stave know, that the best design for this wood is the narrow deep one, the wide flatbow is a bit of a waist of the wood.
Now to the bow,
.......finally got to make a hunting weigth Guava selfbow, I'm really, really happy with this one, not quite as fast as my 85 # HILL, but she shoots my 830gr hunting arrows cleaner than the HLL, and she is really consistent.
I was expecting anywhere in between 1 1/2 and 2" of follow on this one, but she finished with the tips still in front of the handle.
Quite a funky look at brace, and far from a clean nice arc at full draw, but the reflex in the 1/2 inner limb of the bottom limb and the hard bend at mid limb, didn't allow it.
66" ntn, 78 # @ 27", Zebewood overlays, Zebra hide rest & plate, hemp grip, finished with my homade mix, and I made an old school camo job for her.
She will be my sole hunting bow from now on. (untill i make an heavier one
)
Now to avoid any missunderstanding and people getting upset, I like to thank anyone that will post on this thread in advance, because I wont post again, I will answer any questions ( if there's gonna be any) by PM
I'm not replying on the thread, because this will be my last posting here, I'm taking a backseat to see if certain things change.
I will miss several of you that I admire and respect,
.......but in the mean time, I'll see you guys on the other side
Take care
