Thanks, guys.  I use a set of dyes from Tandy that is used for dyeing leather.  They sell a set for about $30 that has about 12 different colors in it.  I also buy some alcohol and water based stains from Woodcraft and Rockler woodworking stores from time to time.  You can also use RIT dye mixed with water, or you can just mix up some acrylic paint and water it down and use it for a stain.  Almost any paint or stain is just pigment powder added to some sort of medium like water, alcohol or latex.  You can also make your own pigments as Billy Berger does it, using natural clays, fruits, and minerals.  I will probably try to use all natural ingredients the next time I try this.

Very nice.  I have been seeking a way to camo my next bow.  Do you have any pics demonstrating your secret technique on a bow or board?  If you ahve them I and I think others would really enjoy seeing them.  T

I can imagine the Ooga-Booga crowd body painting themselves and running nekkid in the woods with that pattern.   I wonder if I could do that pattern in a 4 inch wide strip down the side of my Isuzu Trooper, hehehe.  Nah, then I couldn't find it again in da woods and have to walk home.

Would be a good turkey season bow down here. I may try something similar but in more of a fall/grey scheme as I do more deer hunting/small game hunting than turkey. Very cool old thread.
