Pyramid bow - what is it?

Can someone tell me what a "pyramid" bow is...maybe a picture also?

Wide (usually >2"), flat limbs, usually a whitewood, "pyramid" shaped. Often a continuos taper from fade to very small tips.

I really dig that pyramid shape.  i did a red oak one a few years ago in a trade. I shot it for awhile and then sent it on. I was happy with how it shot at the time. i am going to revisit this design in the near ƒuture I am sure.

The limb's width and profile helps to not overstress the wood, thereby reducing set, and the needle like tips still provide good cast. Shooting a well tillered pyramid bow is usually an eye opener for most yew or osage shooters, who are used to much narrower profiles.

Does that one have cut in nocks or a wound collar type nock?

It has tip overlays, with a groove cut in the overlay only. The tips are too narrow for regular nocks. Just so we're clear, I didn't make this bow. I have made pyramid limbed bows (mind you, nothing as extremely "pyramid" as this one), but not this particular bow. I included it as an example because Tom requested a pic.

Do you think a 52" Black Locust would make a good pyramid bow?

It could Matt , is it from a large tree (small crown) ?  If the crown is pretty high ,I have decrowned walnut and ash to make short pyramid  bows ,but I sinewed mine. And this one is kinda a pyramid ,it's hop hornbeam.

The diameter of the tree is about 7.5". I'm just getting the feeling that not many people would make a short bow, pyramid or not, from black locust.

Tom, the defining features of a pyramid are straight width taper from wide fades to tips, and usually, pretty much constant limb thickness from fades to tip instead of thickness tapering like a "normal" bow. Nice bows, guys.
