Legality of glass points

"Arrows must be tipped with broadheads that are metal, metal-edged, or napped flint, chert or obsidian."

This is what the law states for Indiana when it comes to legal equipment for archery. I'm interested in using some knapped glass heads that I've made and wanted to get some input.

Color them black with a sharpie. :) Obsidian and glass are pretty similar.

Glass is nothing more than man-made obsidian, and is tougher than a lot of natural glass. I'd hunt with em - if anybody tries to nail ya down on the subject just tell them it is obsidian, you wouldn't be lying :).
When you come upon a track or trail you do not know, follow it to the point of knowing.

Yep, what they said....

Personally, the only thing that keeps me from using glass points (or obsidian, chert, agate, chalcedony, etc.) on a hunting arrow is the possibility of having a glass chip sneak its way into one my critter meals. (ouch) 
Any critter tastes good with enough butter on it.

  Do like hillbilly said. If you are using clear points tell them it's quartz, If its red and green glass, tell them you are rich and using Ruby's and Emeralds. Saffire and Aquamarine is the same color as Walmart plates. ;D

Mullet, good point....but I think I swallowed the buckshot.  I don't think a chip of stone would make as quiet an exit as the #6 shot, know what I mean?

Seems like you guys have the same position that I have. We don't have size requirements for broadheads which I would think might be of more importance.Thanks for the input! Lead isn't as bad as steel, no dentists involved with biting down on lead. ;D

Here it only says what size the points must be. We can use whatever material we want.  Arizona says metal cutting edge.  :'(

Jackcraft, I don't plan on putting an arrow in the butt or backstrap so its not a huge issue.  Put it through the ribcage and deflate the lungs. I personally don't eat the lungs.  :P Justin

Justin, I'm one of those guys that makes a stew with the less desirable parts of the deer (or other critter)...heart, ribs, diaphragm, skin membrane, and, of course, the shoulder.  (This is makin' me hungry....)
