i was shooting bare fingered for a while and was just fine. but the last hickory bow i made made me switch to a glove. after shooting it in i lost the feeling in my my middle finger for a couple of weeks. took a bit to get used to a glove, but i like it now. im with Adam, i use one made by grizzly.

When I shot a wheel bow I sometimes shot bare fingers or used a tab. Then I realized it wasn't worth a hand of finger injuries so I went to a tab until I changed to a glove when I started using trad equipment.     Pat

I've got a lot of both and have shot both over the years.  When I shot a recurve a lot I  shot a tab but I shoot a Damascus glove with  all my self bows.

Extra thick leather tab, cut off short so my finger tips stick out far enough to feel my face.  My fingers are tough enough not to use one, but I get a cleaner release with a tab.  I don't like the string to be in any grooves or bury into my fingers.  That's why I like 'em thick.
Be thankfull for all you have, because no matter how bad you think it is...it can always be worse.

I've been using a gloveless string lately, its not quite as good as a glove, but is easier to use.

I use a tab,I used a glove for a long time but it seemed they weren't as good as they once was and about the time they were feeling just right, they were worn out.Tabs last a long time.I have several
but if I loose it in the field I just shoot bare fingers. :)

I've always shot a glove even when I first started with compounds. I've tried a tab, and didn't like the feel of it at anchor...couldn't touch the corner of my mouth and feel it.

I have a wicked nasty scar on my right ring finger, it hurts like crazy every shot I take.
Fortunately I'm dumb enough to shoot anyway.
I use a tab because they're usually thicker than gloves, so it hurts less.
I should know better.

I use a tab and often slide it down  over the string after unstringing as a string  keeper. have cut several, so I always have a backup 'till i find my favorite one again  at the bottom of my kid's toybox....  Only thing from wheelie shooting I still use. Glad I never got into releases.
