Osage D bow

  There's nothing like a skinny little osage "D" bow, fast, and fun to shoot. This bow is 54" tip to tip, 1 1/8" wide to midlimb tapered to 1/4" tips. I'm still lookin for a better handle area if anyone has any ideas. I used a modified Ferret floppy rest, and stained the limbs with leather dye.

Wow :o, very nice Dano. Tiller couldn't be any better. Bet she's a shooter, huh. I gots to build me one of those bendy handle bows.

I love this bow, Dano.  And, what about that string keeper?  I have never seen one like that, but you can bet that I will try that on some of my bows.  I am beginning to like the D bow more and more.  I think some others are too.  Great job.

Looks great Dano, I have one in the works at about 58", hmm may have to go shorter :)

Whats the poudage and draw length?

Lonnie ::) nice try.
The string keeper is something TimO showed me. I usually drill a small hole in the tip to hang the bow while finishing, then I just thread a piece of string material in the center of the upper loop and do a flemish twist till I get to the hole feed it through and tie it off. Works almost too good, kinda makes it a little tough to get the string off if you need to adjust brace hieght.
 Thanks guys, these are sweet shooters. This bow is 45# @ 26".

Nice one Dano. Did you put some padding in the handle bulge or is it just glad to see you? What don't you like about the handle? Looks good to me. I put some layers of cork in one and it worked well.

Thanks Shaun  ::) , I was thinking of cork too, I just have plenty of scrap leather around. I dunno I just got used to a bigger handle on my other bows, and it would look terrible to build one up that far on these. I think I'll get used to it, the more I shoot it the better I like it.

Nice work Dano.  I just put some sinew on a 54" osage sliver tonight.  Jimmy came over and did his first sinew bow last week, he inspired me.  And now your bow makes me anxious for the stuff to dry.
