Ash properties

I am getting ready to start my next project sinewed back ash plains style bow. Have the sinew processed after two days work and ready to go. The Ash staves is inroute by mail, I have never worked with ash before. For a forty five pound plains style bow I can cut Osage to about half inch thickness and come out to about my targeted draw weight.Any body have any idea where to start with Ash for the targeted 45 pounds of pull , I do realize that sinew will up the draw weight slightly .But start me close .So I do not ware out the scrapers

Well that depends a lot on how long and how wide your making it. For your standard flat bow type design with a ridged handle 1/2" should be plenty thick to start off with. If your going narrow bend through the handle I'd start out thicker.
