Wierd problem

While tillering my bow i noticed that one limb is longer than the other. Alot like 4" longer. I dont know why i laid this bow out so carefully. this is puzzling
Is this a problem?

Thats why they say "measure twice, cut once". Better yet measure three times

That's a beauty of the bendy handle... one can't be longer than the other

I think it would be a problem if it was 4" too short....you can always remove wood but you can't put it back.

one limb is 31" and the other is 27 1/2" the bow is 68" ntn. Its oak so if i cut the other limb down i dont think oak could handle a 64" bow with my skills

David, what style bow are you building? Will it bend through the handle? You could always remove 2" from the long limb and make the bow 66". As long as you tiller it properly, you should be OK. You won't know it you can tiller a 64" red oak bow until you try it!

you can tiller a 64"bow, no worries, those oak bows i make from staves are like 62-64 inches, solid handle and i tiller them to 28-29 all the time. you can do it!

I make most of my bows with the upper limb 2" longer than the bottom. Cut off 2" inches and make the longer limb the top. 66" still gives you plenty of wood to work with.

I cut off some and it seem to really help. The tiller even seemed much better. I am only going for 50 -55 @ 26" so i think i can do it.
