Red Oak D-bow

Hi Everyone,

I just finished my first D-bow, and thought I'd share.  I basically just followed the instructions in TBB IV provided by Tim Baker…it worked.  Critiques are welcomed.

You can see how much it bends in the handle at full draw, which is not very comfortable to shoot…I think I should have made the outer limbs bend more.   

Set is about 1", though I haven't shot it much.  I'm still applying coats of linseed oil for a finish, and I may build up something on the handle to soften the hand-shock…suggestions?

Red Oak board stave:
71" long (nock to nock)
1 3/8" wide (mid-limb to mid-limb, tapering to 3/8" nocks)
55# @ 28"

Looks pretty good...try a loose grip when you shoot...it might help if there's a lot of hand shock.  You could also try shortening the bow and re-tiller it to bend more in the limbs....if you're not too attached to the length.

what he said. you'll notice that most of the set you got is in the middle. you could shorten and retiller, or do another and fix that one to bend in the outer limbs. as far as the hand shock, id say put a shoe insole built up on the handle, and then wrap with leather. might make it less noticeable.

other than that id say you did pretty good for your first bendy handle bow.
