Osage Board Bow

I have been working on this osage board bow. It is hickory backed, handle is cherry. I should have if finished in a couple of days and I will post a picture of it on this same thread than.

She looks good so far, Roger. Hickory backed osage makes a very good bow. Looks like the riser is sitting far enough above the belly plane to be safe. Usually it when the riser and belly are on the same plane is when the handle pops off.      Pat

Looks like a nice piece. Handle should be alright, it looks thick enough so as not to allow any bend. Poundage?

Looks very nice so far. Your handle won't pop off, as long as you tiller it so it doesn't bend through the handle.

62" ntn, 1 1/4 at the fades and the tips are 1/2".

No problem achieving that weight with this bow...unless, maybe :o ::)   You could make the limb tips narrower but leave them the same thickness. This will reduce the physical weight without reducing the strength or dropping the bows draw weight. By reducing the physical weight of the tips you will increase the speed and get rid of most, if not all hand shock.       Pat
