Reflex Deflex BBO
« on: July 21, 2008, 10:08:25 pm »
I also got this one done yesterday.  It is a BBO, 62" ntn, 45# @ 28", 1 1/4" at fades, tapering to 1/2" at tips. The limb tip overlays are Ipe.  The handle is Purple Heart, Osage, and Cocoabola.  My second attempt at staining Bamboo with rit dye.  Definitely going to get some leather dye to do the next ones. I have been trying some experiments with the amount of reflex to deflex versus the performance if the bow.  So this one has less reflex but in my opinion it still shoots smoother and faster than a straight glue up.  I hope that ya'll enjoy this one too.  Here is the link to the pics.

I've had pretty good luck with Rit myself (I'm a cheap barstard :) ) but the Fiebing's leather dye is the best stuff that I've tried so far.

That is a pretty choice of wood.  I wouldn't mess with this one, but on the next one try getting a little more bend right at the fades.  When you take into consideration the R/D profile you began with, it is bending a ton at midlimb. All that said it is a pretty nice bow.  Justin

Justin you ain't missing nothing . ;D . I worked from outer limb in on this one and left tiller as is because of draw weight.. Next one is going to be Ipe,Osage and bamboo or hickory backed tri lam with more reflex.
