osage plains bow

Yes it's on the longer side but I've heard of some bows being this long. 54'' ttt 1 1/2'' wide to mid limb, narrowed the tips way down cause it had tons of hand shock. Holds a slight reflex, 58lbs at 25''. There are cracks on the back from steaming it to shape and the leather midlimb is to keep one of them from extending to the side of the limb. I named it ''22'' because of the hole in the lower limb. Leather handle. Shoots pretty decent

Very nice job.Sweet little bow.Steaming will do that sometimes if the wood is wellseasoned.
If it is 3 or 4 years old I use dry heat.I also always seal the bow all over if I plan to steam and still sometimes get checks.If they don't go off the side they won't hurt a thing.I usuall fill them with super glue and move on.  :) You probably already know all of this ,just thought I would mention it. :)

I love these short snappy osage bows.  They shoot like lightning and are great to carry.  Great job.  it's amazing how little osage it takes to make a great bow.

thanks everybody. I was really nervious about the 4 cracks going 2/3 of the way down the lower linb, especially that one right near the edge but I finally decided to just go for it. She's still shooting so I guess it's going to be ok. These staves are like gold to me.
