City man led me to a patch of boo in MS this morning. Wondering what kind this may be, or more to the point - is it good for bows ;). The largest were around four to five inches dia, and forty feet tall. He told me to take it all and I could have fit more into the truck but was plumb tuckered out - notice wet clothes from head to toe :P ;D.

  Moso, I'll take some pictures of some down here if I can get my driver to stop. All of them want to be Formula One Drivers.  Nice find Paul.

i have no expierence with bamboo, but from what the others are saying, id say yes it would be good for bows. i know it would be good for didgeridoos!

Didgeridoos? Moso it shall be then, be on it's way to the TX blast furnace tomorrow. Thoughts on how to cure it out without it warping and cracking. Wondering whether to rip it now while green or let it dry whole.
 I'm thinking atlatl darts Pat ;D.

I looks alot like moso, but it looks even more like moso's close cousin Phyllostachys bambusoidies(I cany remeber its common name), which, according to the Japanese, is an even bow boo than moso. Great score!!!! :o :o

If you plan to dry them whole,take a long drill bit,longest you can find and make a hole through the centre to let the air circulate both inside as well as the outside,will help in preventing cracks.
