My first osage effort

Okay, here ia my first osage effort. It is 68 inches over all, 66 inches N T N, 1 1/2 inches wide, 9/16 at the nocks, 6 inch handle. It has a kink just below the handle and a funny looking  knot in the middle of the kink. look it over and let me know what you think.

Because if pic size there will be several post to show all pics.

...it does look like you could work a bit more on the outside 2/3 of each limb and leave the inside 1/3(near the fades) alone for a while.      Pat

Ronnie, Kinks mess with everyones minds when it comes to tillering. ;)  I find that if I squint my eyes and look at the overall shape, instead of the details I can see the correct bend of the bow.  The nice thing about osage is it is more forgiving than other bow woods. You still should go about bow building using the proper methods.  ;)
   Work the outer areas of the limbs, exercise the wood well and move on to the next step.

If you don't mind me asking. What draw length/weight are you looking for? At the dimensions you have now your way over built for your average Osage bow. For a 28" or less draw I wouldn't go over 64" ntn with Osage, and 1 1/2" wide is pretty generous as well depending on what kind of draw weight your after, and 9/16" at the tips will jar your teeth out. 3/8" at the nocks is plenty wide for osage. Good luck. Looks like your getting it bending pretty good.

Looking good so far,I am with Ryan it is probably a little overbuilt,but I do that a lot myself.
I am looking more for longevity than performance anyway.  :) Not that them built right on
the edge won't last I just don't push the limit much. Keep us posted as you move along. :)

   Glad to hear from you guys. I kinda had 60#at 28 in mind.The reason for having it so wide is that the vertical grain wanders from the center of the handle to very near the edge of the limb in a place or two before winding up in the center of the nock. I'm not very familiar with osage so I thought this would be an error on the safe side.This is all an experiment to me so if you guys got a recomendation I'll try it.
