Eddie Parker, of Lakeland Florida,
Wins May Laminate Bow of the Month From Eddie: I've been working on this bow off and on for over a year. I decided to take it with me to Pappy's Classic to see if I could make any progress on it. I figured being around everybody and chips flying, No mosquitos and nice weather I could get motivated. I felt kinda funny working on the only recurve there, but got asked a lot of questions about tillering recurves and hoped I answered all of them correctly. I got it shooting, even after missing the draw weight I was shooting for and the upper limb didn't match the lower one.
I was shooting for 60 - 65# and ended up with 47#. The bow really impressed me with how fast it shot at 47#. Well I got it home , and it was hot, and mosquitos and couldn't get inspired to finish it again untill this weekend. I straightened the tiller, I think the time in the hot box helped more than anything. The weight jumped up to 50#@ 28". I Cammo'd the Boo with dark green, Rit Dye and acetone , using Q-Tips. It has a Spar Urethane finish.
The bow is 50# @ 28", 60" knock to knock. And after not making weight I decided to Center-Cut it real deep. It sure shoots nice.[/b]
Eddy got a lot of praise for this bow:-"Thats is beautiful I love that bamboo and i love recurves" - david w.
-"Wow!! Very nice, I especially like the stain job on the boo. Well done."- Dano
-"looks great, nice curves. 50# should just fine for a recurve."- twistedlimbs
-"That looks great Eddie. looks like the limbs match now. I saw you shoot it before it was done and it was spitting them out fast. With that camo job your gonna have to remember where you set it." - Jesse-S
