Hickory and silk

   Here's the other bow I started while I was at the Cassic. It's Tennessee Hickory, and I backed it with silk. The bow is going to a good friend and the owner of the Alexacarrie Plantation, Tim Beach.
   I steamed some backset in the tips but the majority of it pulled out during tillering. It is 1 3/4" at the fades and tapers to 1/4" tips. It pulls 70# @ 28" and is 64" NTN. I stained the belly by toasting it with the heatgun and then rubbing charcoal into the grain then 8 coats of spar, then Lacquer.
    Then fancied it up a little. I didn't know how much Tim will hunt with it so I figured it might turn into a part time wall hanger.

I remember this one eddie, looks like it came out pretty darn nice eh.
Hopefully Tim will shoot a pig with it :)

That's a purty bow Eddie! Love that tiller - am going to have ta try some artwork one day.

Great bow, Eddie. You must have been pretty busy at the Classic! I saw a lot of sawdust and chips fly ;)
We'll enjoy this fine bow for all of June's BOM consideration.

Mullet, Did ya use Silk or silk Screen or what kind of silk? I get My silk from Art stores It's chinese silk and is fine textured. I tried Silk screen thinking it was silk and found out its not its synthetic.

  Phillip, I got it from a sewing, fabric store. It's raw unbleached silk. It cost about $3 a yard.

Thanks Mullet I'll Go to my local Fabric Store and See if they have the unbleached.I think I have been usin the bleached which is not as strong.

  Auggie, I put it on with TB3. I soaked the silk and sized the bow first. Then rubbed the bubbles out with my finger.
 
  Paul, The Papaya's are above the pineapples , next to the Cumquats, behind the Loquats, near the lemon tree. ;)
