d/r or r/d????
« on: May 28, 2008, 11:36:14 am »
What is the difference between a deflex/recurve and a reflex/deflex design?

In Gordon's recent post (modified r/d bby)...is the modified r/d actually a deflex/recurve design?

Thanks

I think it depends on whether or not you are looking at the tips or the riser first!  :)

Well, I realize that most folks call the stye R/D.  But someone explained to me that the design starts from the handle.  So, I'm inclined to go with Deflex/Reflex. >:D

Call it whatever makes you happy. It has some deflex and some reflex.  Justin

Newbie question.  Do Deflex/Reflex HAVE to be glued up?  Can't you do the same with steam or heat bending?

Yes, i think you could do the same with heat bending.  I just prefer to cut my lumber into strips and then glue it up...I think I like the fumes from the epoxy too much!
