Hello gang,

Thought to post and express thanks for those who are making the site possible again.  This is an old stave from Missilemaster that I’m fiddling with.  Buckthorn responds really well to heat.  Gonna work on a Mollagabet design and see what happens.  So nice to be back and thank you!

I made several from Cody supplied buckthorn. I always had great luck with it. It has gorgeous grain with an oil finish. Good luck, Steve-O.

I’m looking to give it a slight hollow through the limb and reflex the levers a bit.  Got some work done today.

Buckthorn is really interesting wood. Beautiful stuff. Would be great to see Cody make a comeback at some point.

I'll follow this thread with interest, a Mollegabet hollow limb bow is definitely a design I want to try, someday

This stave was naturally deflexed so I’m thinking to keep that out of the grip and flip the levers.

Anyone have thoughts on how much would be the best benefit?  I gave it some yesterday evening.

How long is it Steve?  Which side is back? top? What draw weight and length are you looking for?

I have never used buckthorn but maybe someone who has will know how it behaves for heat correction. Maybe you can just put it on a form and shape the profile how you want it.

As for flipping tips.

I personally feel the like people with long draws tend to like straighter profile bows.

I feel like people with short draws tend to like reflex.

My exposure to large numbers to observe is limited though.

Just my thoughts.

I think if you don’t go to short with a nice short but fairly aggressive recurve you can really pick up early string tension and not overstress your design.

Funny a few weeks ago I dung out 1 Cody gifted me at the Classic also, have got to far on it yet but do have it floor tillered, Cody made some very nice bows from the stuff so I fine wood, hope yours turns out well , I will be watching as I move along on mine. :)

Hey y’all,

This one is 66” long.  I am feeling glad that I left it long.  Because, the more I progress, the more I want to push the lever bend out toward the tip.  Just enjoying the process and making a best effort.

Such a great pleasure to see you all post.  Ryan, Chris, Brian, Pat, John, Pap, and others I haven’t met in person, yet.

Distally I made the transition from ten to twelve inches but find I want more proximal flex.

I’m going to break the lever more and push a thin mass.
