Pat, just checking to see if you are alright?  The images from the storm are starting to come through and I can't believe how bad it is up there.

A lot of the stricken areas have lost internet and cell phone service, we might not know about Pat for a while.

I think I might have it from the arrow trade still.  I know he's in Brevard.  But you can't get up there right now, everything is closed except to emergency vehicles.  If I can find it I'll send it to you though

From PatB:

Clint, Marcia and I are ok. No power or cell at home but otherwise we are ok. We are in the headwaters of the French Broad rives so the water gets out fast. Down river caught hell. Asheville is underwater. I-40 and I-26 north or Asheville both washed out.
Thanks for checking on me.

Thank you! I was already talking to my wife about how to get up there, hike the areas that couldn't be driven, and bring in supplies for him and check if he is ok. That being said, does he need anything?

Thanks for the update, Clint. I had not been able to reach Pat and Marcia and I was getting nervous.

Glad to her they are ok!  Sounds like a lot of resources are getting into place and just getting around is primitive at best!

Another update from PatB

Just wanted to give you a report on whats up here. We finally got power last Saturday after 16 days without. On Sunday the gas company came in to fill our almost empty propane tank. We still don’t have home phone or internet. Hopefully that will happen soon. The area did have some landslides that took out roads and a few houses but most of our damage was downed trees taking out power lines. All in all, we were quite lucky here.

Thanks for the update Clint.

It really seems strange without Pat around here. Glad they got electric back.

We're back! Just got our phone and internet hooked back up today, only 1 month to the day.
Thanks for all the concern from you guys. Like I said before we were quite lucky here(more of an inconvenience), so much better than others down river from us. Asheville and the surrounding areas are still devastated and it will be a while before they are back to normal. I heard the other day that this was the worst weather related devastation in NC history.
We still have damage to 2 culverts on our driveway but hopefully they will be fixed in the next few days. Five households will be paying for the damage. FEMA may be helping also.  :OK
