Sawing slabs

(1/2) > >>

Muskyman:
I’ve got some obsidian that I was gifted and I also have a brick/tile saw that will throw water to cut it with.
Some of the obsidian is black with silver stripes through it.  Cut it with the grain or across it? I thought about cutting across the grain but was wondering if that might make it weak. It would definitely make for a cooler looking slab.
Any thoughts?
Thanks for your input, Mike

Muskyman:
Ended up cutting with the grain because of the shape of the pieces. Here’s what I ended up with. Big thanks to YosemiteBen.
The longer pieces are about 7 inches

RickB:
Those look nice. Now, let the fun begin...

Muskyman:
It already has 😀
My first attempt at a slab knife blade. It’s not done but it’s a start

bjrogg:
That looks pretty darn good muskyman
