Yew questions.

So pretty much want to clarify since I’ve never worked with yew wood before. Do you violate the growth rings on the sapwood to achieve a uniform thickness following the bumps and curves? Does this only apply to English longbows or does this apply to flat bows made from the wood as well? Seen a few videos of yew wood bows where you can clearly see the white sapwood rings violated and these bows touch 100lbs of draw.

Ya I’ve violated sapwood without issues so long as like you say the uniform thickness is followed.  As for heavier weight bows I may be more inclined to not violate if at all possible.

Yes, but one tries to violate rings smoothly as possible. Extra sapwood isn't a problem at the grip (e.g if you have a thin stave with not much heart wood).
