Thank you very much indeed Strelets, I had a look and very reasonably priced, unfortunately they only had 5x12mm left, but I got them along with a sample of some12mm ash dowels to try out as well. I added a note as you suggested about making arrows from them 😎👍. My bundle of square Black Alder timber has arrived and will check them out this evening.
 *Roughly what sort of weight does the 10mm lime spine at?

The 10 mm lime averages about 70-75 lb spine, but with some as high as about 85 lb and some as low as about 55 lb. The weight averages about 1.0 gram per inch, but with some as high as 1.2 and some as low as 0.85 gram per inch.

I bought 60 of the 10 mm lime dowels and sorted them into groups for weight and spine. I make 29" arrows from the stiffer shafts and 27" arrows from the others. Due to advancing years I am now down to about 65 lb draw weight, and the 10 mm lime is about right for me. I expect that the 12 mm lime would be good for 120 or more pounds.
