1 in the freezer
« on: September 27, 2023, 09:05:30 pm »
Had a good opening weekend, not a monster but meat my gold for the year, kill a deer with my bow, this makes 42 years that I have been blessed to be able to do that, no the pressure is off. This was a 100lb spike, 9 yard shot, heart shot and he ran 60 yards and got to see him go down, love it when that happens, shot with my favorite osage selfbow built in 2012, got several I plan on hunting with this season but this is always my go to bow and gets first chance in the woods/spruce arrows and ace 160 head. lots of good meat/hide and project material.  :)

Good job killer!
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

Congratulations Pappy! That hole appears to indicate ground hunting is that correct? If so double the congrats.

Now you can focus on the grand slam if I remember right. It was a 4 points the last you need?

Good lord, but you are getting to be a bit of a long-haired hippy!

I look at that heart and all I can think of getting it grilling over hickory scraps from a bow project. Mmm-mmm. Baste it often with strong garlic butter and just before pulling it off, give it a good hit with coarse sea salt and fresh cracked Tellicherry black pepper. Best cut of any game animal!
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.
