I have made quite a few black walnut clean sapling bows. I have only ever backed 1 with sinew, but with heavy belly heat treat, and a slightly trapped back it worked fine for me. My married son  really liked it, so I gave it to him. Wish you luck with yours.

Sharp lookin bow.   How much sinew did you end up adding?  Did you do any fire hardening or heat treating on the belly?   Just curious

Super, I placed the sinew  5 pieces At a time  to get one layer then fill the gaps the place another layer of 5 sinews, about 1\8 "
 at this time I don't have the Facility to fire harden.

Good looking bow! Ought to pretty light and a snappy shooter. Loggers round here call butternut white walnut, not sure if thats what your using or not. Either way seems to work well for you. Congrats.

Slow motion was neat.  Looks like a real good shooter.   Did you weight out the sinew prior to laying down?  I’d be curious what the total weight of the sinew you laid down.

ye Super, i didn't weigh the Sinew but i usually group them in bundles of about 1/2" leg sinew that is. In no hurry to sinew back, this was a left overs Bow. i think some Cane Arrows will work well with This Bow. Thanks Bassman and M2, the Butternut is Good takes set and moisture like Hickory.
unlike the Osage Sinew backs I'm curing this one im using as it cures. in about 8 months it will pickup speed like my other SB Hickory, magic
