2023 Rendezvous Raffle Yew Bow
« on: March 10, 2023, 06:14:19 pm »
Here are photos of the bow and arrow set that I made for my black-powder club’s annual raffle. The bow is made of yew wood harvested from the N. Oregon cascades and is wrapped with prairie rattlesnake skins. The bow is 66” inches long and pulls 46# @ 28”. The tips are made from elk antler and the handle is wrapped with tanned elk hide. The bow can be shot either left or right-handed and the outfit is Pacific Primitive Rendezvous (PPR) competition legal. The beaded quiver was made and generously donated by Ron York and is part of the set. Drawing will be held at the FHBPB Spring Rendezvous over Memorial Weekend near Mill City Oregon. I hope you enjoy the photos.

What’s not to like about that!  I’ll take a ticket for the raffle… ;)

Your bows are always top notch. Attention to detail is evident in every one of your builds. Beautiful.

Wonderful bow Gordon. Always an inspiration. Where is the rendezvous located. Also what is the bowyers gathering that you have attended in the past.

Your bows are amazing. I reference back to your 57" n2n sinew backed yew recurve often. The raffle winner will be one lucky guy or gal coming away with this one!

Beautiful bow and arrow set. I love the photos, especially the full draw. Thanks for sharing your work; and also your advice on a sinew-backed yew bow question I had awhile back.

Another work of art. Fantastic bow, Gordon.

Thank you Pat, I agree that it is a good cause and I am happy to donate a bow and arrow set to the club for their annual raffle.

Thanks PD, I much appreciate the compliment.

Thank you Pappy. The bow and arrow sets typically draws a lot of interest in our raffle. I expect the same this year.

Thank you for the compliment Will, and you are welcome.

Thank you Matt, I am glad you still find the yew tutorial useful.

Thank you IdahoMatt. The rendezvous is just outside of Mill City Oregon. The annual bowyers gathering in central Oregon had a really nice run, but like many good things it eventually came to an end. I do miss it and the people though.

Thank you Stixnstones, I appreciate the nice words.
