I had picked up one of the spliced staves, years ago from out west but made a tillering error back in the day and had a weak sorta hingy spot. I shortened the length down to 56” and sinew backed it last February. Let it sit for these months and recently tillered it out. I’m pretty happy with it. Put whitetail rawhide over the sinew and finished it up. I’m happy with the artwork. Just colored pencils then sealed and I put beeswax over it…I like the beeswax on this type of bow. No tip overlays, just extended the rawhide to the end. Grip is waxed string and I sprinkle pipe bowl powder on it for the color.
It comes in pretty heavy 60#@27” but doesn’t really stack up and feels like less weight. It’s had several shooting sessions now and is maintaining some reflex…about an inch.
Glad to finish up this one. It’s been good lately, working at finishing out old projects before starting anything new. And, also house fixin’
Hoping this hurricane LEAVES US ALONE next week, but we’ll see.
Thanks Yall
