Nesting wildlife
« on: April 06, 2022, 03:04:32 pm »
Well spring is trying to get here.
Here's a blue bird and barred owl nesting.

The blue birds make a nest there every year.Sometimes raising two hatches a year.

The barred owl is hunkered down into a cavity where a limb broke off this hickory years ago.Her tail feathers sticking up a little bit.I saw her eyeball peek once over the edge.I've been listening to this pair communicate in the dark hours for nights.
I know it's a barred owl because of the number of hoots it makes.8 syllabels.
I'm sure Robin will want to be taking pictures when the fledglings emerge.
I've thought about cutting this snag down for firewood in the past.I'm glad I did'nt do that now.The crows can be unrelenting and merciless to these birds if they are spotted by them.I doubt very much she'll be seen. They've flown over many many times without a clue.Lets hope that holds up.
