Heres a black locust bow I recently finished. The stave had a couple big knots that I didnt want to place in the same limb, so I placed the handle right betweeen them. This made the top limb 33 long and the bottom limb is 23. I made the limbs 2wide from fade to mid limb then tapering to justs under 1/2. The bottom knock had a good sized knot in it and a decent wiggle too. So I left it fat with no overlay. The top limb got a pink ivory overlay. I heat treated it flat after I got it braced. It took about 1 set on the top limb and about 5/8 on the bottom limb. I ended up cutting the leather for the handle wrap a little crooked. But, it works just fine. It was sewn on wet and let to dry tight. Its finished with a coat of linseed oil, then 6 coats of truoil, followed by a quick blast of rattle can satin lacquer. It shoots surprisingly smoothly. No different than anything else Ive shot.
Thanks for looking
