Hazel Hollow Limb Bow
« on: March 03, 2022, 12:04:00 pm »
My latest creation. My first bow built in hollow limb style. Crafted from hazel sapling stave seasoned for nearly 3 years. I applied a bit of deflex at handle and recurved tips. Nevertheless recurves almost disappeared after tillering process. Perhaps making them stiff would prevent it. Anyway I'm happy with the bow. It ended up being slightly R/D shaped. It feels very light in a hand, and really fast. I've left bark remains on the back as a camo and decoration. The bow is 65" ttt and it's drawing 35-40 lb at 28". Tips overlays as well as arrow plate were made from cow horn.

This is neat and elegant!
Would heat treating be more risky for hollow? (heat reaching too much at the back because of the thinner wood?)
