The veil between this world and the next
« on: January 29, 2022, 10:51:03 pm »
Gets thinner as you age, even more so when you have a brush with death and are uncertain of the days to come. Honestly I'd be scared if I weren't so sure of my Father, His Son and Their love. I'm going to call this recent health issue an eye opener and a blessing I hope I never live to forget.

I'm aware I'm walking a thin line on the rules, but please consider I'm not promoting or even discussing it, only stating what a recent has caused me to consider.

Words to live by.

We should always remember that death comes like a theft in the night. It usually doesn’t tell us when it’s coming.

It’s easy to forget that sometimes

The older I get, the more I appreciate the dichotomy of how precious life is and yet how death is really not an enemy at all.

Hang in there, Sleek!

Sleek I know what you mean this April 9th will be two years since I got thrown off of a skid loader on the farm. The doctor came in and told my daughter I probably won't live. Like you said it makes you look at things different.

Hope all is going well with you, and you thoughts are my thoughts exactly, yep the older you get the more you think about those things, I remember thinking when I was about 40 if all goes well I am about half way home, now I am thinking I am 7/8's of the way there if all goes well, ??? as John Mellencamp said in an interview I read last week, " It's just the math "  :) :)

It's all a roll of the dice. And, once you get used to it it best not to think about it. I'll be 72 in July. It's hard for me to believe I'm almost 72 but I'm healthy so I try to take everyday as it presents itself. I only hope when the time comes I have time to say goodbye then I'm gone. Not wasting time worrying about it, though.
My byline...make the most of all that comes and the least of all that goes. This has been my life's mantra for as long as I can remember.

Way I look at it, if you live a century or just twenty years you've lived a lifetime. Just some lifetimes are shorter or longer than others.

Sleek,
All of the above!  Crossing over is another continuum to a different plain.  We don't know when we will go!  Take care, recover, and hope to see you at MoJam!

My Grandpa always used to say "Doesn't matter how long one lived.  They lived their whole life!"  Been my mantra ever since.

Truer words were never spoke. Have almost lost my wife several times. My dad is a hodgkins lymphoma survivor of some 30 years or so. Just lost a young lady friend to what docs called a cardiac arrest at 27 yo.
We just never know what each day will bring.

A real life experience does make you slow down and think about some things. I know I have since the bout with cancer and then the stroke in July.

Hope you are doing well, Sleek.
