Wow, I don’t think I’d have the guts to try that one! Awesome story, and beautifully executed!  (SH)

Wow. Another masterpiece. Way to save that piece of yew from a miserable life stuck in the ground.

Great bow. Based on that story, you need to name it Lazarus!

Well I’m sure with a quiver full of blunts. And someone manning the bow. That fence post would keep the critters in.

Nice work

thanks everybody for the nice compliments. I really enjoyed this build. everything but worked out perfectly - built in a real flow, like butter-cream. altough I must admit, the first plan didn't work out - the plan was to make a strong victorian longbow. alone, this wasn't working out - my victorian longbow pulled about 30#@28"....there was just not enough meat. So I shortend it and did what I like most, again kinda holmegard.
and found pics of the suspects  (-S they are adults by now, living in their own place.

There we go - cute little furballs.  Even though I know yew is good for any design, I still think of longbows first... it's always good to see one like this to remind me of other possibilities!

Very fine looking shooter with lots of character there for these parts.A favorite design of many executed very well.
Like the overlays and handle too.

Speaking of fence posts and critter culprits reminded me of a news story I read on a UK site.
A landowner had to put up a new fence and spent quite some time cutting new posts for it.
After a day or two of rest he went out ready to start setting them, but found the entire stack of posts missing.
He had assumed someone had stolen the posts. Then he noticed drag marks and follwed them to a near by stream. There he found the nicest looking beaver dam he'd ever seen.

The beavers finding so many precut logs had plenty of time to build it right.
